Technical Analysis Fundamentals for Serious Traders
Technical analysis is the study of price action and volume to identify high-probability setups. It is probabilistic, not predictive — understanding that distinction is critical.
Support and resistance are price levels where buying or selling has historically concentrated. A support level that holds multiple times becomes stronger; a break below it is significant.
Breakouts occur when price moves decisively above resistance or below support, often accompanied by elevated volume. Low-volume breakouts are less reliable.
Trend structure. A market in an uptrend makes higher highs and higher lows. A downtrend makes lower highs and lower lows. Trading in the direction of the trend increases probability.
Volume confirms price moves. A breakout on volume suggests institutional participation. A breakout on low volume may fail.
Avoid over-engineering. More indicators do not improve accuracy. Price, volume, and key levels are sufficient for most frameworks.
